Route 5 South – River Road

PlaceSense assisted the Town of Norwich to assess areas of town suitable for sustainable development and recommend changes to the town’s zoning to accommodate higher-density, mixed-use and energy efficient development patterns. The study focused on two areas - Route 5 South and River Road that are easily accessible from major transportation corridors and existing settlement areas, and are served by public transit. PlaceSense analyzed natural resource constraints, infrastructure needs and opportunities, and regional economic and demographic trends to create alternative development scenarios. Public workshops were held to get feedback on the scenarios and refine a recommended regulatory approach to further the land use and sustainability goals of the town plan.
